I'm getting more and more excited about Blogging!
 We’ve
had a Blog for about a year now but I didn’t publish content with the old software very often.
We were using some software that came bundled in the Website Control Panel from our Internet
Service Provider but we just switched over to Moveable Type - one of the 'new generation' Blog
software. And now as a result, I'm publishing more content more often because it’s so easy and
offers so many advantages. And we’ve recently built Blogs for some of our clients and maintain them
with fresh content…
A Blog is a website that is driven by software that makes it easy to publish new material.
Content is published in a journal style and sorted very easily – for example, chronologically
or by user-selected categories. (Check out
Wikipedia's definition of a blog.)
The newer generation of Blog software allows a wide variety of neat and powerful features
that can be plugged into a Blog very easily. So why have a Blog? Glad you asked. Here are a few
of my top reasons.
1. Simple, Easy and Powerful Content Management
Blog software also allows easy for
a variety of users to publish content. For example, MoveableType allows us to set access codes
to various users and control where and what they can publish, if I wish.
2. Easy Broadcast of Content:
It's easy to make it to broadcast your Blog content
with such technology as RSS feeds and Social Bookmarking.
People can subscribe to your Blog and get notified in real time wherever you publish new material
online.
3. A Blog is a Great Way to Easily Have an Online Dialogue:
Blogs also make it easy
for your Blog visitors to leave comments and have online discussions. For example, just click

Easily plug in features
and modules like integrated Web analytic software, email subscriptions, ecommerce features like
PayPal, and “widgets” that integrate updated weather, maps, video, advertising and much more.
I can add content to my Blog and schedule when it will get published online. New features are
being developed all the time and there are very often free.
5. Blog Software is Affordable:
Many content management systems that allow users
to update their own sites cost many thousands of dollars. New generation Blog software is often
free (see Google's Blogger.com for "personal"
blog software) or a few hundred dollars or less (like
Moveable Type's "professional grade" software).
